Dr. Montgomery is an agile scholar, agile coach, and a frequent speaker on agile, leadership, and Scrum in Europe and the U.S., including events such as Agile Alliance, Agilia, Agile & Beyond, Global Scrum Gatherings, Project Management Institute, and Scan Agile.
Anthony holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Interdisciplinary Leadership from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska with a research emphasis on the socio-psychological nature of Scrum. He also holds Certified Scrum Professional (CSP-SM, CSP-PO), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe 4 Program Consultant (SPC), Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), and Project Management Professional (PMP) credentials.
Anthony is an Alumnus of The University of Chicago, Graham School with Advanced Project Management studies, including certificates in both Project Management Strategy and Process Management & Improvement. In addition, Anthony holds a Master of Business Administration degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Anthony has 20+ years of executive and technology leadership experience across such roles as Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial / Information Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Vice President, Assistant Vice President, Senior Director, Director, Project Manager (agile and traditional), and Financial Systems Engineer.
Anthony further completed 20-years of military service and retired at the rank of major in 2012. MAJ Montgomery (Ret.) began his military career as an airborne infantry private in the 82nd Airborne Division and held such positions as Commander, Operations Officer, Plans Officer, Executive Officer, Platoon Leader, and Sergeant. His awards and decorations include numerous commendations for meritorious, exemplary, and humanitarian service, among others. He is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and a veteran of Operation Noble Eagle and Hurricane Katrina.
