Highway to the Cloud: How to Design a Future-Proof and Lock-In-Free IDP

In recent years, large enterprise companies have started building Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) to make cloud adoption easier and faster for everyone. To handle today’s complex cloud world, simple paths are no longer enough. We need solid “golden paths” that help teams deliver software faster, keep infrastructure compliant, and manage costs (FinOps). However, a great IDP must bring value over time. It needs to adapt quickly to new business needs and technology changes without becoming too rigid or locking you into a specific vendor. In this talk, we will look at how to design an IDP based on tech-agnostic abstractions. This approach allows you to change tools easily, integrate modern practices like GitOps and IaC smoothly, and keep everything secure by defining clear roles and responsibilities.
