Infrastructure as Code Is Not Enough: Turning IaC into a Developer Platform

Many teams adopt Infrastructure as Code expecting consistency and control. In reality, modules diverge, patterns drift, and workflows fragment. IaC automates provisioning, but it does not provide standardization, self-service, or a good developer experience.

Platform engineering provides the missing layer to turn IaC into a usable platform. By exposing pre-approved IaC templates and modules, the platform team enables developers to use safe, opinionated workflows for common infrastructure tasks.

Beyond developer experience, integrating FinOps practices ensures infrastructure is not only consistent but also cost-aware. By treating IaC templates as products, the platform team can improve defaults, right-size resources, and embed cost-efficient patterns.

Attendees will learn practical patterns to combine IaC and platform engineering to deliver infrastructure that is fast, consistent, and cost-efficient.
